Agricultural Experimental Station of INA P-G

(National Institute of Agriculture in Grignon, Paris

      I – Procedure

The experiment was conducted over a period of two months (May–June 2006) on two groups of 24 milk cows during the       lactation phase. The feed for the experimental group was supplemented with BioAktiv at the rate of 5g* per cow per week, administered in two doses and distributed on the feed ration using the top-dress method.

II – Results

Only 16 comparison pairs were kept in the experiment for its duration.

A – Milk production

No differences recorded

                           No. of animals          Milk (kg)

Experimental group    16                      31.8

Control group             16                      31.7

B – Milk quality

The milk was analysed twice a month in order to measure the fat (TB) and protein (TP) content as well as the cell count of the milk produced by each cow in the experimental group.

                              Cell count (’000/ml) TB (g/kg)     TP (g/kg)

Experimental group 147                       36.1                 32.6

Control group          217                       33.5                 32.4

III – Conclusions

The experiment showed that BioAktiv has a positive impact on the fat content and cell count of milk as well as the condition of the cows’ hooves.
